The Tradiția Militară Association (aTM) marched beneath the Triumphal Arch in Bucharest as part of the National Military Parade on 1 December 2025, marking the 107th anniversary of the Unification of Romania (1 December 1918).
The historical detachment that paraded alongside approximately 3,000 Romanian and NATO-countries’ soldiers in front of the President of Romania consisted of 40 military reenactors.
The position of the aTM parade block within the formation was an exceptionally honorable one, being placed first after the parade commander and the identifying standards of the Romanian Army.
The reenactors wore various Romanian uniforms from the First World War: 1st Border Guards Regiment, Mountain Troops Battalion, 2nd Guard Rifles Regiment “Queen Elisabeth”, and the 21st Infantry Regiment/IV Line.
On the historic military flag carried at the head of the detachment, under which the heroes of the Great War once fought, hang with honor the decorations awarded to aTM: the Commemorative Medal of the War of Romanian Unification, conferred by the President of Romania; the Emblem of Honor, bestowed by the Chief of the Defense Staff; and the Royal Medal for Loyalty, from the Royal Family.
The aTM reenactors socialized with representatives of allied armies who also took part in the parade, protecting Romania’s true sovereignty, as well as with Romanian soldiers encountered throughout the various events held nationwide.
The aTM detachment was inspected by the current Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, and by the Parade Commander, Brigadier General Tonea-Bălan. All expressed their appreciation for the diversity and historical accuracy of the uniforms and accessories, as well as for the high level of training of the custodians of Romanian military traditions.
As a sign of homage, the evocators of the heroes of the Great Union presented arms in front of Elisabeta Palace, the current residence of the Romanian Royal Family.
At the invitation of the “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum, the soldiers emerged from history brought the heroes of Romania’s unification back to life through an extensive and moving historical-military reenactment, performed in front of numerous Romanian and foreign visitors.
